Badillo is a member of the Horror Writers Association, Mystery Writers of America, James River Writers, and the Trans Journalists Association. They hold a master’s degree in creative writing from Goldsmiths, University of London.
In 2024, the Virginia Associated Press awarded Badillo "Best Station Promo" for a television spot they wrote and produced. Badillo is also a Regional Murrow award winner and 2022 “Best Commercial” winner by the Virginia Association of Broadcasters. In 2019, they appeared on the cover of Style Weekly Magazine for their contribution to Lingering in the Margins.
